Month 11

Dear Leif,

You are 11 months old! How did that happen?

There have been lots of ups and downs this month. Through it all your Leifness has kept us smiling.

First off, the houses. We sold our old house in Georgetown, and are the proud new owners of a historic bungalow in the valley of the moon. The huge cherry tree at the new Fall City house is waiting for you to come take a swing. We move on the second weekend in December, and I'm sure we'll need to solicit some babysitting from your godparents and protectors.




Your Nana is in the middle of cancer treatment, and she is doing very well. You have visited the clinic and brought huge smiles to everyone waiting for their turn in the treatment room. My heart swelled with happiness to see everyone surprised as you came crawling under their chairs, tugging on their polyester pants.

Your weight has gone up and then back down, accelerating my aging process. I'm not quite sure where I stand with your eating/weight/size issues. One moment I'm at peace - you are a marvel. Other moments I want to drive straight to children's hospital and demand that they tell me what is going on this very instant. I'm sure it will resolve and be nothing but a humorous memory.



And you are getting a new cousin sometime next week! Your cuteness is about to get some serious competition, and we are so excited that there is going to be someone in the family smaller than you (for at least a week or two).

My favorite thing this month is your new level of silliness. Somehow a quirky sense of humor has creeped into you. Feeding us veggie booty is pretty funny, poking at my belly button is funnier, and driving over the cats in your mouse cart is reason to scream with delight. Peek-a-boo is boring. Slapstick bodily harm humor is fantastic. I'm sure next month fart jokes are going to be awesome.
