to cut or not to cut

Leif has an appointment on his birthday (Dec. 1st) to get his first haircut. But we aren't totally sure about this.

See, originally I thought we would never cut his hair. Or at least not till he was around three. I imagined him with lots of curls or thick long hair, but neither of these fantasies have come true.

Instead, Leif has fine wispy hair that almost doesn't grow at all. And instead of being curly, it just tangles and mats up on the back of his head like the softest little mohair throw. He has some long sections that stick out, not quite thick enough to curl. All in all it is just a total messy nest.

So we thought that a little trim might clean things up a bit and at least let his hair grow in more evenly. What do you think?

There is a poll over there >>> for you to tell us what you think. Totally anonymous, so don't be shy. It will be up for a week.

I suggest you use some heavy duty hair conditioner for after the bath... aveda has some or any salon has good stuff..then get a wide mouth comb and gently with the hair conditioner in comb it out from the bottom..it will take time the first time but will work..then our sweet Leif can keep his golden locks in tact...so keep those golden locks!!!!

I had to vote to keep it because Darwin has the *exact* same hair.

It's kind of a pain, but it's so cute too!

looks like the boy;s locks stay...leif wouldnt be leif with out them,
another thought you could just trim the back nest.

I vote to leave the locks and buy some good product like PY says. Try Aveda "get curly"

My second baby boy was born with a mop of hair which grew to his shoulders by the time he was one. R's hair was also fine, so it tangled and matted. We did cut it for the sake of practicality and although we hated to see the hair go, we just fell in love with the "new" R all over again.
