thanks
After our recent trip to Colorado I've been thinking about my childhood summers with Nana & Papa. See, they treated Ian and I like little treasures - we ate from little trays while watching the Disney channel. Fairs, movies, and roadside flower stands...but mostly just spending each day of our visit outside wandering from fort to fort or visiting all the bird nests with new babies. Ice cream before bed and we could stay up as late as we liked (except on Saturday nights before church). My other Grandparents had great parties, NINTENDO!, and loads of cousins around.
I think my time with them formed an image in my head of the perfect childhood, one which I draw up all the time now that Leif is starting to become a boy. On Tuesday my parents came and got Leif for a day at the beach, complete with lunch on the boat. He came home so tired and content. Britton's parents (Nona and G'dad) were eternally patient and fed Leif his first ice cream bar. He is still asking to go to "Nona's House? Nona's Car?"
I hope he will be as fond of this time and I am of mine.

oh look! An Oompa Loompa! :o)
Rachel..Summers with grandparents are certainly special. I can assure you that my Uncle Dale and Aunt Melba still cherish each moment of those summers, just as you and Ian do. Maybe your mother will share with you some of the antics pulled by Gooch cousins on summer visits with Nanny and Papo Peck in Texas.
