In Love.

Prior to moving to Fall City I lived in Seattle for 9 years, and Britton for 15. Really? That is forever.

And we didn't just live in cute suburban Seattle, but raucous, exhausty, train, plane, crazy Georgetown. Before that it was Capitol Hill, center for all things City.

When we were deciding where to settle down the list of criteria was long and detailed. Affordable, Semi-Crunchy, Good Schools, Fresh Food, Reasonable Commute, Running Trails, Etc. We knew something would have to give, but others were non-negotiable. We made an offer on a house in South Seattle and dreamed about living in Montlake. Then, on a whim one night I looked online at houses in Fall City. Our house was there on the screen and I said to Britton "Come look at this" in the most flat, normal voice.

I already knew it was our house, and I saw the next 10 years in HD.

In many ways, Fall City is a bit like Georgetown. This is a working class town, no frills or fuss. Pickup trucks for the potholes, the best food is at the tavern, one throwback church with a bell. In the summer you walk by the gas station for some beer or a coke, then sit by the river. Next weekend there is a pAraDE!

I do miss good lattes. Ethnic Food. But, I've learned to make good coffee at home and we have lots of farmer's markets.

Fall City is a summer place. The winter here is a little...lugubrious. melancholic. claustrophobic. You want to drink. Alot. I'm being a little dramatic here. It is your classic NW winter - grey sky, grey river, grey fog, grey forests. A million shades of grey if you look closely, but still grey. You read Hemingway and make bergemont tea, take on mechanical projects, rent movies.

I still remember Fall City from when I was a kid. I marched in the parade and had milkshakes at Small Fryes. It is still the same. This week we are going to do some u-pick strawberries and hope for more sunshine. We have only been here for 6 months, and it already feels like home.

Congratulations on finding your home in Fall City. You seem to be the perfect match for one of my favorite homes, and lots in Fall City. I have been enjoying your perspective on our little town. Allen Minner (The sellers listing agent)

Oh my god, I *LOVE* Malay Satay Hut. My parents take me there every time I'm in Seattle visiting them. So yummy!
